Butiga POS - Android point of sale connected to Minimax

The Challenge

A small fashion boutique in Šibenik runs its entire business in Minimax - articles, prices, stock, and invoices. The counter needed a till as fast as a classic cash register, but without double entry: scan an item, charge it, and have the invoice land in Minimax immediately - fiscalized and printed.

Off-the-shelf POS solutions would have meant another article database to maintain, monthly fees, and software that doesn't talk to the existing bookkeeping. Instead, I built a custom Android app that runs on an ordinary smart phone or tablet at the counter.

The Solution

Butiga POS is built around one rule: Minimax is the single source of truth. Articles, prices, VAT rates, customers, and payment methods are pulled from Minimax, and every invoice is created and fiscalized through it - no retyping, no second set of records to reconcile.

The interface is designed for the cashier, not the accountant: the amount is the largest element on screen, every step has one obvious next tap, and a complete sale - scan, quantity, payment - fits in a couple of seconds.

What I Built

• A sale in a couple of taps - camera barcode scanning or article search, cart, payment by cash or card
• Fiscal invoices through Minimax - the invoice is created in Minimax at the moment of payment and fiscalized immediately
• Receipt printing - a thermal printer at the counter; the receipt comes out as soon as payment is confirmed
• R1 (business) invoices - the business buyer is picked from Minimax and the invoice carries their details
• Refunds and credit notes - returns are issued as credit notes tied to the original invoice, through a clearly marked, protected flow
• Daily Z-report - revenue by payment method and by cashier, ready at the end of the shift
• Floor price protection - cashiers can't discount below a threshold set by the owner; the purchase cost is never shown anywhere
• PIN login and roles - cashier and admin, with automatic screen locking
• Catalog and stock sync - inventory is pulled from Minimax, and every sale decrements it immediately
• Native Android

The Results

• One set of records instead of two - everything sold at the counter is in Minimax immediately; nothing is retyped by hand
• Faster checkout - a complete sale, from scan to printed receipt, takes a few seconds
• Numbers the owner trusts - the daily Z-report matches the bookkeeping because it comes from the same data
