Shuyuan — a website with a bilingual blog for a Šibenik TCM centre

From Elementor to a static site on the San Andreas CMS — the client publishes his own blog in two languages.

The Challenge

Shuyuan is a Traditional Chinese Medicine Vitality centre in Šibenik — anti-aging treatments, MTM massage, cupping, and moxibustion. Its old site was assembled in WordPress with Elementor: slow, dependent on a pile of plugins, and so clumsy that a lot content change ended up on a developer's desk.

The owner wanted exactly the opposite - to write a blog about treatments and Traditional Chinese Medicine, and to get an English version of the site for the foreign guests who fill Šibenik all season. On the old stack, that meant more plugins, an even slower site, and even more maintenance.

The Solution

WordPress was retired. I hand-coded the new site as a static site - no page builder, no plugins, no database on the hosting. Pages are served as ready-made HTML, so they open instantly and there is nothing to fall out of date or get hacked.

I connected the content to the San Andreas CMS, my own system where the client edits the site through simple forms — with zero technical knowledge. Every saved change is versioned in Git under the editor's name and automatically triggers a fresh build and deploy: the client clicks "Save", and a few seconds later the change is live.

What I Built

  • A hand-coded static site - templates and Tailwind CSS with a custom build process; no WordPress, no Elementor
  • A bilingual blog - posts in Croatian and English, with a featured photo, an SEO description, and an author byline
  • An English version of the whole site - navigation, treatments, contact, and blog; even alt texts and meta descriptions are translatable
  • A treatment catalog - the client controls the categories and layout of treatments himself, from the CMS
  • Automatic image optimization - every uploaded photo is compressed to WebP and synced to the site
  • Contact with reservations - an inquiry form and a WhatsApp button for quick contact

The Results

  • The client publishes his own blog - in two languages, through forms, with no developer needed for every edit
  • The site opens instantly — static HTML with no database and no plugins, instead of a sluggish WordPress build
  • Nothing to maintain - no plugin versions, no security patches, no admin panel exposed to attacks
  • An English version for foreign guests - the centre is reachable for the first time by the tourists who fill Šibenik all season
  • Every change has a history - content lives in Git, so any version can be restored with a single click
